Plate Number 26 from The True Masonic Chart

Title

Plate Number 26 from The True Masonic Chart

Description

Jeremy Cross’s The True Masonic Chart, a handbook for Freemasons, includes an image of common forms of lodge officers’ jewels, similar to the jewels used at Washington Lodge, shown in this section. From the top left, the square is the emblem of the Lodge Master, the level is worn by the Senior Warden, and the plumb symbolizes the office of the Junior Warden. In the second row, the crossed keys and crossed quills symbolize the Secretary and the Treasurer of the lodge. The Senior Deacon wears a square and compasses with a sun at the center. The Junior Deacon displays a similar symbol, a square and compasses with a crescent moon. The cornucopias in the third row represent the Stewards of the lodge, and the crossed swords are the emblem of the lodge’s Tyler.
